Kinect App Aids in Teaching Mathematics

I’ve been playing with the Microsoft Kinect and SDK at home for some time now and have yet to sit down and put together anything worth while. After watching this video on how a creative teacher is using the Kinect and a custom program to allow students to interact with graphs and charts I must admit that I am feeling a bit inspired. As we head into the winter here in Ohio we’ll see what comes out of the home lab.

Camera Arrived and yes its a PlayStation 3 Eye

I was very pleased to find that when I came home this evening my Playstation 3 Eye had arrived! This camera will be the core of the camera vision in my multi-touch table. I am starting out with 1 camera for now but may end up adding a second if response doesn’t meet my expectations.

Project: multi-touch table

This post is the first of what should be many to come. I have decided to put a project that I have long had on hold (2 years or so). I am going to build a multi-touch table like the Microsoft Surface for myself. I have long read on this product and dreamed to have one, but alas I just don’t have $12,000 laying around to drop on one of these. Being a bit of a DIYer I have decided to take up the journey that many have and build my own!
